At Shambala we offer a daily gentle YOGA program with our in-house YOGA teacher Dewi. The cost is 50.000 Rp per 45 min. session, paid directly to the Yoga Teacher.

Our morning YOGA sessions consist of gentle exercises, which can be done by anybody.

This moring YOGA will help you strengthen your cardiovascular system, tone your body, stretch your muscles, and improve your mental fitness.

If you wish to have additional YOGA, you can arrange for private sessions with DEWI during the day.

YOGA with Ilona Selke the owner of SHAMBALA Retreat Center will guide you through a series of easy Yoga exercises, which will transform you body gently and easily with daily practice.

Learn the positions and the flow of the asanas (positions) by following Ilona Selke on video.

This YOGA sequence only takes 20 minutes and gives you resilience, strength and a sense of aliveness very quickly.

After you have mastered the progression of the exercises by watching the VIDEO which usually only takes a week to learn, you can use the provided AUDIO(MP3 and listen to Ilona's voice guiding you through your EASY YOGA morning routine.

Meditations

We offer guided meditations in our Yoga Hall, our Temple at Shangrlia at 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM, except when we have groups.

The guided meditations are played continuously in the Yoga Hall during those hours and offer a variety of themes, from Healing your Body to Time Travel, to Spiritual Partnership etc.

They are available as MP3 downloads in ENGLSIH and in GERMAN


Bio Feeback

You can also ask to practise with the amazing mediation training program developed by Deepak Chopra, called The Relaxing Rhythms. It is a computer based bio-feedback method which you can practice upon request in our WELLNESS BOUTIQUE.

During special times of the year we have additional YOGA Teachers who stay at our resort, who can offer additional classes. Please inquire by email if this is your focus for your longer stay at Shambala.

Guided Meditations with Ilona Selke

Yoga is an ancient science for purifying and strengthening the body in order to facilitate meditative awareness. It is a little known secret, that as you learn to calm as well as strenghten your body, you will also deepen your meditational experiences.

When Westerners think of YOGA we actually mean: HATHA YOGA which began its history in India. The word YOGA is Sanskrit and often is said to mean: Unite, the mind, body, and spirit.

Although yoga includes physical exercise, it is also a lifestyle practice for which exercise is just one component. Training your mind, body, and breath, as well as connecting with your spirituality, are the main goals of the yoga lifestyle. That is what we are here for at Shambala!

Yoga can improve your flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. Many people who practice yoga say that it reduces anxiety and stress, improves mental clarity, and even helps them sleep better.

At Shambala we will help you to take your first step to begin, or deepen, your daily Yoga practice, in order to live the life you want to live. You could also try using our yoga DVD once you get home.

Our on-site YOGA teacher, or Ilona Selke on her DVD, will guide you in easy to follow excercises of a morning yoga workout.

Before you leave Shambala you can purchase the Online Yoga course with Ilona Selke. Once you are familiar with the daily YOGA-routine which you can follow along the Video, you then can simply listen to the same guidance on mp3 in the comfort of your home.

Please dress comfortably when you join us for YOGA in the mornings at the Meditation Hall in Shambala.

Stretchy shorts or leggins, or any kind of loose pants and a T-shirt or tank top are best. Yoga is practiced barefoot, so you don't have to worry about special shoes.

We will use a yoga mat or "sticky" mat. This special type of mat provides cushioning and grip while you do your poses. At home you can buy yoga mats in sporting goods stores or often at the yoga class location.

Most yoga sessions will end with some type of relaxation exercise or guided imagery exercise.

Before you begin any type of exercise program, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor, especially if you have a health problem. Be sure to let your instructor know about any orthopedic problems or special needs you may have before the class begins. A good instructor will be able to provide modified poses for students who are just beginning or who have special needs

EASY Does it TIPs for back at HOME:

Most people have more success working out in the morning before the day's activities sidetrack them; others find that an after-school workout is the perfect way to unwind.

Experiment with working out at different times of the day and find the time that fits your schedule and energy level best.

Find a workout buddy back at home

Doing your yoga routines with a friend is a great way to stay motivated. You'll be less likely to miss your workout if you have an appointment with a friend.

You and your buddy can compare tips on healthy eating and exercise habits, evaluate each other's poses for form, and keep each other on track.

Or use our YOGA -DVD with Ilona Selke as you guide. It can take the role of your work-out-buddy. At first you will watch the DVD until you have practised the Yoga Routine sufficiently. Afterward you can simply listen to the CD, following the voice of Ilona Selke as you focus on your breath and healthy imagery.

Consistency and breathing is key

If you want to reap the benefits that yoga provides, you'll have to do it consistently. A once-a-month yoga workout may relieve some stress, but for benefits like increased flexibility and stamina, you should aim to practice yoga daily.

It is absolutely amazing how quickly you will feel an increase in muscle strength. Just a week will give you enough improvement to keep you motivated to keep going.

A tip:

Breathing is one of the key elements that makes YOGA successful in strengthening your body and your muscles. Oxygen gets transported more effectively to you cells and body tissue while you are excercising, helping to eliminate toxins, burning off fat cells and building more muscle tissue. Breathing brings oxygen to your entire body which stems off depression and helps rejuvenate your entire being.

Different Styles for different Folks:

We are all different. Some of us are love and need to relax our busy minds. Others get impatient when asked to relax. At Shambala we will teach you a simple to follow 20-minute-Yoga-Practice. At home you can do this routine slowly, to calm your mind, or more vigorously to suit your firey nature.

The wonderful thing about yoga is, it can be as vigorous or as gentle as you want it to be. That makes it a good choice for anybody.
